Marunikikyo is a family crest derived from the bellflower flower. Bellflower is a perennial plant belonging to the Campanulaceae family and is one of the “seven herbs of autumn.” It is famous as the family crest of the Toki clan of Mino and Mitsuhide Akechi. It is a popular motif even outside the Toki family because the character “Kikyou” is composed of the character “Morekichi”.
