Also known as “Chasmoky Quartz,” this gemstone has been treasured since ancient times as a talisman to ward off evil spirits.

◆ Kiso Hinoki “Kanzai” ◆
The Kiso Hinoki “Kanzai” refers to natural Japanese cypress harvested from government-managed forests in the Kiso Mountain Range — a region spanning Nagano and Gifu Prefectures, known as one of Japan’s “Three Great Beautiful Forests.”

Historically, even entering these sacred forests or touching the trees was forbidden, reflecting the deep reverence for this precious wood.
Because the trees grow on steep slopes under harsh, cold conditions, they require twice as many years to mature compared to other hinoki.
This slow growth results in finer, denser grain, producing wood that is exceptionally smooth, fragrant, and lustrous.
The soothing forest-like aroma of Kiso Hinoki is said to have a calming and healing effect on the mind.
