This beautiful and stable Takaoka bronze cast Buddha statue was produced in Takaoka City, Toyama Prefecture, a copperware production center with a 400-year tradition.

Fudou Myoou, also known as “Fudou-san,” is one of the most familiar Buddhist deities, along with “Kannon-sama” (Goddess of Mercy), and in Sanskrit is called Achara Natha (an ancient Indian variant of Lord Shiva).
In Sanskrit, he is called Achara Natha, a Sanskrit variant of Shiva. “Achara” means “motionless,” and “Natha” means “protector,” hence the word “Āryānatha.
Fudou Myoou is an incarnation of Dainichi Nyorai, the Buddha who is always in the flame of fire at the command of the Dainichi Nyorai, and who is able to destroy all obstacles and all evil.
Fudou Myoou, holding a sword in his right hand and a snare in his left, is said to be able to eliminate all our troubles and destroy all our misfortunes.
