This beautiful and stable Takaoka bronze cast Buddha statue was produced in Takaoka City, Toyama Prefecture, a copperware production center with a 400-year tradition.
It is a gem of a product made by skilled craftsmen, one by one, with great care and attention.

Kannon Bosatsu, called “Kannon-sama” (Goddess of Mercy), has been widely popular among the people since ancient times.
The twenty-fifth chapter of the Fumon-bon of the Lotus Sutra is called the “Kannon Sutra,” in which it is said that Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva is “Shi-Mu-Awe-su,” or “the Avalokitesvara who is fearless. A noshi-muwaja means “one who provides people with a state free from fear and misfortune,” and is a Buddha of worldly benefits who saves all sentient beings.
Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva is a sublime and great Buddha who hears the voices of people's suffering, sees their suffering, and saves all such people.
The basic form of Avalokitesvara is Shonanonbosatsu, who is usually depicted wearing a crown, holding a lotus flower in his left hand, and seated on a lotus pedestal.
